Motor Insurance Database

The Motor Insurance Database (MID) has been created to provide a record of all insured motor vehicles in the UK in order to comply with the 4th EU Directive of Motor Insurance.

The creation of the database is a real benefit to the police force resulting in a dramatic reduction in the number of uninsured drivers which is currently reckoned to be costing the industry some £400 million a year.

Policyholders must supply details of their vehicles by logging on to the secure side of this website and then clicking on the MID button.

Policyholders without web access should contact their broker for further assistance.

Currently the MID requires only the vehicle registration number and the date on which cover begins and ends. To keep the database up to date, such information will normally be required within five days of any change. It is a requirement of our policies that policyholders update the database on a continuous basis.
